NEET PG 2025 Round 3: Allotment Results & Reporting Guide

The NEET PG 2025 Round 3 seat allotment result was officially released on February 3, 2026, marking a critical phase in the postgraduate medical admission cycle. According to the MCC Counselling Schedule, candidates who have been successfully allotted a seat must complete their physical reporting and document verification at their respective colleges between February 4 and February 11, 2026. This round was notably expanded after the Medical Counselling Committee integrated over 400 additional seats, including a specific allocation of 49 seats at the Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences following a Supreme Court intervention.

The regulations for Round 3 are significantly stricter than previous rounds to ensure seat stability. Once a candidate joins a seat allotted in this round, they are strictly prohibited from resigning or vacating it to participate in subsequent rounds. Those who are allotted a seat but choose not to join will face the forfeiture of their security deposit and will be ineligible to participate in further AIQ rounds. However, candidates who remain unallotted after this stage are still eligible to move forward into the Stray Vacancy Round, provided they meet the remaining registration requirements. During the reporting process, students must present original documentation, including their NMC Registration Certificate and internship completion proof, to secure their admission. This round serves as the final opportunity for many to secure clinical specialties before the remaining vacant seats are moved into the final stray vacancy phase, which operates without fresh choice-filling for certain categories.

NEET PG EXAM DETAILS

Exam Pattern and Structure

The NEET PG 2025 was conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) in a single shift to ensure fairness and standardisation.

Duration : Candidates are allotted 3 hours and 30 minutes (210 minutes) to complete the paper.

Question Format : The exam consists of 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each featuring four options with only one correct response.

Medium : The examination is conducted exclusively in English.

Marking Scheme : A total of 800 marks is achievable. For every correct response, +4 marks are awarded, while -1 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer. No marks are deducted for unattempted questions.

Timed Sections : A notable feature of the 2025 pattern was the introduction of mandatory timed sections. The paper is divided into five sections of 40 questions each, with approximately 42 minutes allocated per section. Once a section’s time expires, it is auto-submitted, and candidates cannot return to it.

Syllabus and Subject Weightage

The syllabus is based on the Graduate Medical Education Regulations and encompasses the entire MBBS curriculum, traditionally divided into three parts :

● Pre-Clinical (Approx. 45 Questions) : Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry.

● Para-Clinical (Approx. 65 Questions) : Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, and Social and Preventive Medicine (SPM).

● Clinical (Approx. 90 Questions) : Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, ENT, and Ophthalmology.

NEET PG Eligibility and Qualifying Criteria

To be eligible, candidates must possess a recognized MBBS degree or provisional certificate and must have completed their one-year mandatory rotatory internship by the specified cutoff (July 31, 2025, for the current session). Registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Council is mandatory. Admissions are granted based on a percentile-based cutoff. For 2025, the initial qualifying percentiles were the 50th for General/EWS, 40th for SC/ST/OBC, and 45th for UR-PwD. However, these were later reduced to address seat vacancies for Round 3.

IMPORTANT QUESTIONS

Ques 1. Can I resign from a seat allotted in Round 3 ?

Ans : No. According to MCC Regulations, once you join a seat allotted in Round 3, you are strictly prohibited from resigning or vacating it. Furthermore, you will be ineligible to participate in any further counselling rounds, including the Stray Vacancy Round or state-level counselling.

Ques 2. What happens if I am allotted a seat but choose not to join ?

Ans : If you are allotted a seat in Round 3 and do not report to the college, your security deposit will be forfeited. While you may still be eligible for the Stray Vacancy Round, you would typically have to register and pay the security fee again, provided you weren’t already holding a seat from previous rounds

Ques 3. Who is eligible for the Stray Vacancy Round ?

Ans : Only candidates who do not hold any seat in either the All India Quota or State Quota are eligible. If you were allotted a seat in Round 3 but did not join, your eligibility depends on whether you opted for “Exit with Forfeiture.” Candidates who have already joined a seat in Rounds 1, 2, or 3 are not eligible for Stray Vacancy.

Ques 4. Is fresh choice filling allowed in the Stray Vacancy Round ?

Ans : No. For the AIQ Stray Vacancy Round, there is usually no fresh choice filling. The choices you locked during Round 3 are automatically considered for allotment in the Stray Vacancy Round. This is why the Official MCC Portal emphasizes that Round 3 choices must be filled with extreme care.

Ques 5. What documents are mandatory for physical reporting ?

Ans : You must carry original copies of your NEET PG Admit Card, Rank Letter, MBBS Degree/Provisional Certificate, Internship Completion Certificate (dated on or before July 31, 2025), and a valid Permanent/Provisional Registration Certificate issued by the NMC or State Medical Council.
